MASTER'S VINCE AND DAVE LACEY Lai Hung became very busy in his own pursuits, training for major tournaments etc. He referred the two brothers on to his Si Hing, Master Kong Hing who took them on against his fhthers will. This was due to the fact that Vince and Dave Lacey were not full blooded Chinese and in a time when Kung Fu was kept from anyone who was not. During the many years of training under Lai Hung and Kong Hing, Vince and Dave Lacey gained a reputation as fierce fighters of BSCLF. They along with three others became known as the five black panthers_ These masters were called upon when there were any challenges or to uphold the name of BSCLF. They continued their training under Kong Hing until 1966 when they migrated to Australia. They founded the first Chinese Martial Arts school here in Australia and continued to teach here in Perth until Sifu Vince Lacey and his family left in 1985 to migrate to America to start the Buck Sing Gwoon in the San Francisco area. Sifu Dave Lacey left a short time later to start a Kung Fu School in Melbourne, Victoria and five years later he also moved to the United States. Sifu Vince Lacey and his son Shane Lacey currently run the Buck Sing Gwoon in Fremont California. Sifu Shane Lacey has himself, gained an excellent reputation for his fighting abilities and is considered to be one of the best martial artists in the country. He is currently undefeated, 4 times running, 4 Star Grand Champion in the International Chinese Martial Arts Championship, which has contestants from all over the world including China. Shane will be visiting the Buck Sing Gwoon here in Perth and doing seminars and demonstrations for us in the future. FOOTNOTES: Jason Lacey is the son of Sifu Dave Lacey. He is currently one of the
teachers at the Perth school. Please see some of the articles and interviews with Vince Lacey on this Website. |
